cable-stayed bridge
A bridge with towers, similar to a suspension bridge, but rather than a wire being suspended between the towers, multiple wires are anchored directly from the tower to the deck of the bridge. It can be distinguished from a suspension bridge because the wires will be taut and at an angle, rather than vertical and suspended from another wire.
Some bridges like the Brooklyn Bridge are a hybrid of cable-stays and suspension, gaining the benefits of both designs.
